Mentorship is more than passing on knowledge; it’s the spark that lights the path for future innovators. We believe that investing in young women with a passion for technology doesn’t just shape individual careers; it transforms the future of Africa’s digital economy. Guided by this belief, we partnered with Tech Sisters Kenya to create a space where talent meets opportunity and innovation meets empowerment.
A Day That Celebrated Talent, Creativity, and Courage
From the moment participants stepped into our offices, it was clear this was more than just a coding challenge. It was an invitation to dream bigger. The CSR Coding Challenge: #CodeConnectMentor brought together bright young women from diverse backgrounds who showcased not only technical skills, but also resilience, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
Judges and facilitators worked side by side with participants, offering mentorship, encouragement, and professional insights. The environment was intentionally built to blend healthy competition with collaboration on a day filled with energy, curiosity, and growth.
Adding to the excitement were interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and inspiring remarks from key leaders who have walked the tech journey and understand what it takes to thrive in the industry.
Leaders Inspiring the Next Generation
Throughout the day, industry leaders shared stories, advice, and encouragement. Alexander Odhiambo, our CEO, emphasized the importance of personal branding and staying visible to opportunities in a fast-evolving industry. Mutie Mule, Solutech’s COO and a respected mentor in Kenya’s tech community, officially launched the CSR event, reinforcing the company’s commitment to nurturing talent.
Representing Tech Sisters Kenya, co-founder Valeria Bosibori inspired participants with her own journey, reminding them that their presence in tech today will inspire more young women tomorrow. Together, these leaders sent a powerful message: the future of technology belongs to those willing to learn, build, and lead and every participant has that potential.
Launching the Mentorship Program
The day’s highlight was the official launch of Solutech’s Mentorship Program, designed to carry the impact of the challenge forward. The top participants were selected to join a three-month mentorship journey — a structured, hands-on program aimed at:
- Nurturing talent in young women passionate about technology.
- Providing practical guidance from experienced professionals.
- Equipping mentees with the confidence, skills, and networks to thrive in the tech sector.
This isn’t just a program; it’s a commitment. Over three months, mentees will be supported to identify their strengths, develop in demand skills, and gain the industry insight needed to leave a lasting mark on the tech ecosystem.
A Commitment to Innovation, Diversity, and Community
Our mission has always been to empower people and businesses through technology. This mentorship initiative reflects that mission in action, a tangible investment in the next generation of African innovators. By creating opportunities for young women, we are building a stronger, more inclusive technology community, ready to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
This is only the beginning. As our mentees grow, learn, and lead, they won’t just benefit from mentorship, they’ll become mentors themselves, continuing the cycle of empowerment and innovation across the continent.
